Wholly Guacamole is celebrating by giving away a free Wholly Guacamole Snack Pack. Simply eat lunch or dinner at any Schlotzsky’s restaurants nationwide on September 16 and receive one free, Wholly Guacamole 2 oz, 100 calorie Snack Packs with each Schlotzsky’s sandwich, pizza or wrap purchase.

Wholly Guacamole will also have a coupon in this Sunday’s paper for $1.50 off Wholly Guacamole, so if you’re a fan be on the lookout.

Guacamole is a good for you snack, check it out:

Made from fresh avocados, ounce-per-ounce it’s packed with nutrients—touting 60 percent more potassium than bananas—and loaded with lutein which protects against prostate cancer and eye diseases says the food scientist at Wholly Guacamole, Marcia Walker.

Studies show that the “good fats” in avocados effectively reduce cholesterol levels. And now, researchers at Ohio State University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center say that avocados have cancer fighting power, against oral cancer and possibly other types of cancer.

Guacamole was originally invented by the Aztecs as a nutritious snack. In fact, three tablespoons of all natural guacamole with a hand full of carrots has just 94 calories—that’s less than a cup of low-fat milk!

Check out how to make the guacamole football field pictured above, it would make a great addition to your football parties this fall.

Black Bean Corn Avocado Wraps

1/3 cup black beans (drained)

1 large flour tortilla (I picked up some jalapeno-cilantro flavored tortillas at the store they were yummy)

1/4 cup frozen corn

1 tsp onion

1/2 of an avocado (diced)

2 cherry tomatoes sliced in half, or a couple sections from a regular tomato

a pinch of fresh cilantro

You could also add salsa or sour cream to this.

These are so easy to make:

Combine the beans and corn and warm them in the microwave for about a minute, or until they’re heated through. I also heat my tortilla for about 15 seconds, just to warm it up.

Layer all of the ingredients onto the flour tortilla and wrap it up.

Enjoy!

I love avocados! I know there used to be concerns about its being high in fat, but more recent medical opinion is that most of the fat in an avocado is monounsaturated – the “good” kind that actually lowers cholesterol levels.

Super Bowl Sunday may be over but hey, avocados are a healthy addition to your diet any time of the year!
They are good sources of folate or folic acid. What’s the deal with folate? Low dietary intake of folate has been associated with increasing the levels of homocysteine, a risk factor linked with coronary heart disease and stroke, although a direct relationship between folate intake and heart disease has not yet been conclusively shown. High homocysteine levels have also been associated with an increased likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
