The Best Bald Movies

]]> Its a sunny day in my neck of the woods,  but anyone who lives in the Pacific Northwest knows that sunny days do not last long around here.  A rainy day will appear sooner rather than later.  Which is why I am going to start planning a film festival featuring great movies that star or feature baldies.  You could really have a lot of fun with this, if you invited a few friends over and served “bald” treats, and gave away awards.  But I will let your imaginations run wild.  For now, I will just offer a few selections for your viewing pleasure.

  • Being John Malkovich – One of my most favorite movies.  The scene where John Malkovich enters the portal to his own brain, and enters a world made up entirely of John Malkovich’s kills me.  Its genius.  This movie would headline my festival.
  • Iron Man – ok granted it was just released into the theatre a few weeks ago, so you may have to wait a while for a legitimate dvd release.  But it is hands down the best superhero movie I have ever seen.  Jeff Bridges rocks the bald look.  Ever wonder why the best villains are always bald.  If you know the answer to this let me know.
  • The Magnificent Seven – I have not seen this movie, but it is a remake from one of the best movies I have ever seen (The Seven Samurai)- actually watch the Seven Samurai while you are at it.  T.M.S has Yul Brynner and he is a very famous baldy.  Its on my list to watch, anyway.
  • Speaking of Yul Brynner you may want to see The King and I.  Many reasons to watch this film- the costumes, the music and dancing, and of course watching Yul Brynner acting like a  spoiled brat.
  • Powder - fantastic and out of the world experience with Sean Patrick Flanery and Jeff Goldblum.
  • Annie – you must have known this movie was going to make the list.  How could I leave off Daddy Warbucks.  Introduce your favorite 7 year old to the world of Little Orphan Annie.

Its all about the celebrities (and movies) today at Baldiness. I found out earlier this week that Cameron Diaz is sporting the chrome dome look for her new movie My Sister’s Keeper. In the movie Ms Diaz plays a mother who shaves her head in support of her ill daughter.

While Ms Diaz has not shaved off her golden locks but instead is sporting a bald cap – I think she looks fantastic bald, and if should ever decide to go that way, I am sure she would have no problem getting herself a date.

Baldies Rocking the Cannes Film Festival….still

Like I said earlier, there are more than a few baldies having a great time at the Cannes Film Festival this year. I have no idea who this person is, but he looks important, is bald, and is canadian. And for those 3 reasons alone – he gets his picture put up here. I do hope he was wearing some sunscreen, I understand the sun can get pretty hot out in Cannes.

One of the best things that I have ever heard of being done in a concert, is when BNL (aka the barenaked ladies) performed “Bald Men on Parade”, and introduced all of the baldies on their crew. This happened at last year’s concert in Vancouver. I really wish I had been there. Maybe when they come back to town, I will get to go – and meet some of these great bald men.

How fun would it be, to see a parade of bald men. Now I have a new fantasy.

You can see the youtube video here. But be warned, the video is shaky – the person who took it, was too busy dancing – too keep the camera straight. Can’t really blame them. At the very least, you will be able to hear their great tribute to the baldies on their staff.

My Favorite Baldy

]]> I know that people are interested in bald celebrities. I know that readers want to hear about Bruce Willis, and Jeff Bridges (who went bald for the movie Iron Man). But I am going to share with you, my favorite bald celebrity. Now he isn’t a celebrity by Hollywood standards. In fact the majority of you, will not have even heard of him.

However, Julian Bream is a big time celebrity in my book. He is the greatest living classical guitarist of of this age (meaning after the death of Segovia). What’s more. He is bald. It was a huge relief to me, when he finally let go of his comb over. For a time, his hair kind of eclipsed his talent.

What is fantastic about this video (from well over 25 years ago), is that through the magic of television, Mr. Bream was cloned and able to play a duet with himself. A duet of the musical variety.

Here he is looking as confident as ever, and having a wonderful time.

]]> Do you follow Dancing With the Stars? I will admit, that I don’t watch it. In fact I don’t watch any reality or celebrity based reality show. However, some women that I work with go on and on and on about this show. So I thought I would tune in. I found out that Jason Taylor the famous bald defensive end for the Miami Dolphins is a contestant.

After being scolded by the judges for relying too much on his partner and not dancing enough; JT broke out his moves last week. This is what happened.

Hairmixer lets you become the stylist to all of the A-list Hollywood celebrities- you can mix and match their hairstyles-or see what their styles will look like on you. I combined the face of Tom Cruise and the hair of Will Smith, and came up with this. I was looking for a look that Tom Cruise might be able to pull off. Isn’t he adorable, yet menacing?
