Awareness to end Breast Cancer is a cause that I support (among others). When one has a close friend or relative that is touched by such a disease, it is hard to not want to throw all of your support behind a cause, such as this.
So, with a little prompting from Alicia, who writes Mental Health Notes for b5media, I have decided to participate in this years CIBC Run for the Cure. A walk/run which raises funds to end breast cancer.
Funny how little whims turn into such ideas. It started by stating that I wanted to …read more

So its the end of Movember. How did you get on with growing a mustache?
Was it a great and successful experiment? Are you glad that its the end of the month and you can shave off that ’stache?
Or are you liking how its kind of keeping you warm in the winter, but just don’t like how it itches. If that is the case, then a design group from Iceland called Vik Prjónsdóttir has got just the thing for you. A woolen beard cap. It covers your entire head…and comes with a very distinguished mustache. If it was socially acceptable for …read more

Have you heard of Movember? No???? Well let me tell you a little bit about it. The month formerly known as November has been changed. Movember is a mustache growing charity event, which supports awareness of men’s health issues, in particular prostate cancer. At the start of the month (right now) clean shaven men register, and then have the rest of the month to grow a glorious mustache. At the end of the month there are parties and galas where these “Mo Bros” can battle it out to be Mr. Movember. And …read more

I am sure you all know by now that there is a really great campaign going on by Pantene, called Beautiful Lengths. The campaign was created to support women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment. It’s a really great cause, and I hope that you will check out their website, and see how you can help.
I think this commercial has been out for awhile, but I just saw it for the first time on television about 10 minutes ago. It is really touching, and it prompted me to have another look at the campaign.

Our mission is to assist cancer patients during this difficult time in their life by boosting their self-confidence and personal outlook after the devastating …read more

Ye gods… how did I get so far behind this month? Oh yeah… Crazy cool BBQ on top of a big project at the day job. Such is life. Anyway, let’s see if we can’t find a few quick hits to remind you I’m still here. Hmm…
How about this story about Woodville Elementary and their fund raiser for Angel Hair for Kids? The sixth grade class put on a dramatic skit, they held a $2 raffle of sorts to help shave a teachers head, and willing students could get their own head shaved for a $5 donation. In all, the …read more

I’m going to dive into a little bit of shameless self promotion here, and highlight something we’re pretty excited about in our house. This weekend we are hosting a Backyard BBQ to Benefit World Vision. Our church has been planning it for a couple months now, and it looks like there will be a very good turn out. You can find out more details here and My Name Is Mommy, and if you’re interested in helping out across the Internets, let me know. We’ll point you in the right direction.
Do you need a connection to baldness? Well… it’s a backyard …read more

It’s been a while since I mentioned Locks of Love and one of the hair cutting events that seem to occur with a fair amount of regularity somewhere in the US of A. As a brief review, Locks of Love is a charitable organization that collects hair donations in order to make children’s wigs. These wigs are distributed without cost to children who have lost their hair for one medical reason or another. In their words:
Our mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the …read more
