If you have a couple of minutes to spare (ummm 10 min will do) you might want to consider playing around on this site.
Hairmixer lets you become the stylist to all of the A-list Hollywood celebrities- you can mix and match their hairstyles-or see what their styles will look like on you. I combined the face of Tom Cruise and the hair of Will Smith, and came up with this. I was looking for a look that Tom Cruise might be able to pull off. Isn’t he adorable, yet menacing?

The site has only been around for a week or so, and already has 200 members. It certainly is growing fast. There are forums, and interesting articles. You can meet new people (I just joined, so you can seek me out). You can post pictures and videos. I am sure you know how it works.

Anyway, please check it out. It looks to be quite an interesting undertaking.

So a couple weeks ago I get an email from Ellie Sanders about this new website, Team Alopecia. In her words:

So, I’m poking my nose around there now, and already it gets a positive review based solely on the fact that the bug-eyed mug of Signore Collina is featured above the fold! What can I say? I’m a soccer fan.

Seriously, though, it looks like a pretty nice site. A few menu items… “In the News,” which looks a bit like a blog… only without the RSS feed. (Minor deduction.) “Research” product “Reviews.” “Rookies” for those who are new to life with alopecia. There’s lots more. They also offer a monthly newsletter for which I’ll be signing up.

Overall I’d recommend it. In fact, I’m gonna throw this one in the links section for posterity. Check it and other Baldiness-approved sites out; links are listed way, way down at the bottom on the right sidebar.

Yesterday was out monthly Topic du Jour. (I don’t know why that name hasn’t caught on, but I’m sticking with it. More panache than “Theme Day,” doncha think?)
At any rate, Kristen at Lively Women has the full scoop. I’ll point you to Tony’s lazy-8 musings; Laura’s honest ConFeSsion and Hsien’s love poem. (I’m a sucker for poetry.)

(Go here and scroll all the way to the bottom.) In their words: “As parents, we find ourselves challenged daily with helping our child maintain her dignity and self-confidence. While we cannot grow hair for Abby, we can raise funds to foster research that will one day find a cure or even an effective treatment.” The run will be held on March 3, and more information is available at their website, tortoiseandhair5k.org.
