There once was a Bald Man who sat down after work on a hot summer’s day. A Fly came up and kept buzzing about his bald pate, and stinging him from time to time. The Man aimed a blow at his little enemy, but – whack – his palm come on his own head instead; again the Fly tormented him, but this time the Man was wiser and said: YOU WILL ONLY INJURE YOURSELF IF YOU TAKE NOTICE OF DISPICABLE ENEMIES.~Aesop

Mark Houusendove, a 42 year old man from Long Island has been accused of stealing five bottles of hair loss treatment from a pharmacy. Total dollar value of theft is $50.
What makes this story just even more odd, is that Mr. Houusendove had just finished dropping off some friends who were visiting an inmate in prison, when he decided to make a stop over and steal the hair restoration bottles.
In what world, would a prison sentence be preferable to not having hair????

Since this is my first post, I thought I should tell you a little bit about myself. I have blogged for the Science and Health Channel of b5media for a little over a year now. My other b5 blog is called CFS Squared -Tales of CFS, and is about my journey with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome – and how I try to live positively with a chronic illness.

CFS is my connection to hair loss. While I have a somewhat full head of hair these days, this has not always been the case. As recently as last year, I had to cut off a whack of my hair, because not only was it falling out by the root, but was breaking off mid strand. The back of my head was a mess! Neither my doctor nor my stylist could help me figure out why. This is how I was introduced to Baldiness, and the Bald Man himself helped me realize that chronic fevers could cause hair loss (I was suffering from mono at that time – and fever was a very present symptom).

Anyway, with my stalking of this blog and a little interference from Hsien – Cory ended up doing an interview with me, which you can read here. It’s been almost exactly a year since I was introduced to this blog, and now I am going to write it. Isn’t it funny how life turns out.

I have lots to learn about living confidently without hair – and the issues that come with it. But you should know that I am really excited to be here- and I think we are going to get along great!
So now, that you know a bit about me….maybe you can leave a comment and tell me a bit about you. I can’t wait to get to know you guys.

And being a fellow Minnesotan – Mr. Wizard was born in Waconia – there was an extra reason to root for him. I’ll have to ask my dad if he was a member of a Mr. Wizard Science Club.

A quick alert related to baldness by the fact that I’m Bald Man… oh, and Brian Urlacher.
Aaron Brazell, b5media’s resident Tech Ninja, does a regular sports podcast over at Suicide Fan. In this week’s show he’s managed to find room for yours truly to talk soccer. I pipe in with some stuff about David Beckham off the top, and then they get into that bowling tournament going on in Miami this weekend.
Pop over, give it a listen and learn what a real Bald Man sounds like.

Catching my death of cold because I went outside with wet hair
Driving with the top down

Shyamalan has called the story “a fairy tale for adults,” and Giamatti, whose been on your screen regularly for a decade, is in nearly every scene as apartment building superintendent, Cleveland Heep.
I can look back and remember seeing Giamatti in all kinds of small roles: Donnie Brasco, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Saving Private Ryan to name a few.
I can look back and remember seeing Giamatti in all kinds of small roles: Donnie Brasco, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Saving Private Ryan to name a few. His portrayal of Bob Zmuda in Man on the Moon is the first supporting (as opposed to minor) role I remember. After last year’s breakout, winning a SAG and receiving Acadamy and Golden Globe nominations for his work in Cinderella Man, Giamatti is everywhere. He is in a half-dozen films this year, and four (so far!) next.

Bald Facts on Paul Giamatti:

He is the son of A. Bartlett Giamatti, late president of Yale University and former major league baseball commissioner. A. Bartlett Giamatti is probably best known for his feud with Pete Rose.

He graduated from Yale University with a bachelor’s in English, and again from Yale University School of Drama with a master’s in drama. While studying he worked for a time as a janitor. Relating it to his current role: “I told Night I was already very familiar with cleaning toilets. No need for research on that front.”

On himself: “I’ve got to be the geekiest guy in the world in a lot of ways. I’m like a zeta male.”

I see a trip to New York City in my future.
the bald man cometh. but this time he’s bringing chocolate. (and lots of it.) max brenner, the israeli chocolatier (a.k.a. the bald man) is already a hit in australia, and is set to make a stateside debut in union square any momento. from pastries to fondue to chocolate alcoholic drinks, apparently every chocolate factory fantasy is fulfilled. and there’s even food sans chocolate like stuffed french toast and sammies. sounds sweet. 841 broadway. between 13th and 14th. www.maxbrenner.com
