Baldies Rocking the Cannes Film Festival….still

Like I said earlier, there are more than a few baldies having a great time at the Cannes Film Festival this year. I have no idea who this person is, but he looks important, is bald, and is canadian. And for those 3 reasons alone – he gets his picture put up here. I do hope he was wearing some sunscreen, I understand the sun can get pretty hot out in Cannes.

Baldies Rocking the Cannes Film Festival

Seems like everyone in the entire world has been following what’s been going on at the Cannes Film Festival the past couple of weeks.   What you see on Entertainment Tonight or read on Perez Hilton’s blog (which by the way I love) is not necessarily the interesting stuff that has been happening.  I don’t know about you, but I have heard just about enough of who Lindsey Lohan has been kissing, or Angelina Jolie’s babies.
The interesting goings on have nothing to do with A listers (or has beens), its the everyday regular people that have me all excited.  Take …read more

My veins are filled, once a week with a Neapolitan carpet cleaner distilled from the Adriatic and I am as bald as an egg. However I still get around and am mean to cats. ~ John Cheever

Bald Actors – An Important Resource

Actors are in a unique position. They are able to able to bring trends to the surface. Most of us don’t have a choice about whether we go bald, or not. When baldness is trendy, it does become a lot easier. While, I am not sure baldness will be trendy for women, anytime soon – it is helpful to know about women like Gail Porter. At the end of the day, when I am feeling insecure about the state of my hair (or lack thereof) thinking about people who live with confidence, while being under the …read more

A Night With the Samurai

One of my most favorite events in my hometown started over the weekend.  Its The Return of… Samurai! film festival at  Pacific Cinematheque theatre.  You may ask yourself what do samurai’s have to do with baldness.  Well have you ever watched a samurai film?  Other than Toshiro Mifune, and the young romantic lead – none of the other samurai actors have hair (we are strictly speaking of the men).  Is there another smattering of baldies in a historical period?  Other than monks (either catholic of buddhists).
I can’t think of another group that is portrayed in the movies to be bald …read more

Bald Muppet Rocket Launch

Bert from Sesame Street technically isn’t bald, but he does not have a lot of hair on his head (unless you count his eyebrows). In fact when I was a kid, I actually thought that Bert wore a toupee. Yes, for a while I thought Bert and Ernie were actual people and not muppets. I was a strange kid, I have no defense.
A bunch of men decided to turn Bert into a rocket, and they decided to launch him (or 5 of him). The video looks like they had a great time. You might …read more

Germans Love Bald Men

A man, who lives in the south-western part of Germany has been trying to have the costs of his “wigs” covered by his health insurance provider. He believes that his insurance should pay for them because he has had hair-loss problems since childhood.
His claims have been denied. The insurance company states:
The hair’s protective function against the sun and the cold can easily be replaced by a hat. The health insurance does not have to pay for that.
The insurance company will provide hair coverage for women and children. You should note that health insurance in Germany, will cover …read more

What Burns Me Up

I am cleaning my house today….giving everything a real good clean – before the repair people come in a day or two. I have been going through everything, and throwing things out. I just found 3 phone books from 2007 (city directory and yellow pages x 2) and on each one, they have glued coupons for complimentary consultations for hair restoration surgery.
First of all, not everyone has a problem with their baldness. Promotions like this are designed to make us feel bad about the amount of hair we have (or don’t have) on our heads. I …read more

Baldiness – How Did You Find Your Way Here?

OK, I admit it- it’s a slow day in the world of me relating to bald worthy news.  I thought I would fill the time, by showing you how some readers found their way to baldiness – during this first week of 2008.  This is not how everyone found their way, just some random searches that stuck out in my mind.

Hair cut for bald men – there is such a thing.  It’s called “Going NBA”
Mustache growing supplement – why would anyone want to take such a thing? – Enlighten me, please
Are hairy people not as evolved – I spit out …read more

The Bald Quote of the Day

Intolerance is the Do Not Touch sign on something that cannot bear touching. We do not mind having our hair ruffled, but we will not tolerate any familiarity with the toupee which covers our baldness.  ~ Eric Hoffer
