Hillary & Barbara

Did anyone watch Barbara Walter’s interview with Charlie Gibson on ABC last night?

I wanted to weep with gratitude for what she’s done for women.

After watching old clips of her most famous interviews with some of the most powerful leaders, infamous criminals, and biggest stars of the world Charlie asked Barbara about her interview style.

Barbara’s interview style, in my opinion, could be characterized as feminine. She does not interview like a man. She hardly ever asks direct or confrontational questions. She is very demure and passive in her body language and behaves in a word, like a “Lady.”

That’s the secret to …read more

Barbara Walter’s Bi-Racial Affair

Did you all see Barbara Walters on Oprah yesterday?
Just the sight of these two trailblazers for women in the media made me a little teary. I was so proud of both of them. So grateful too.
Was anyone else as fascinated by their candid discussion about having affairs with married men?
In case you missed the news, Barbara had an affair with the first black Senator, Edward Brooke. Her affair inspired him to ask for a divorce. The divorce caused Brooke not to be reelected.

Fabulous View

I’m adding a category for The View. I can’t help it. I care what happens on The View and when I watch it at the gym I find myself laughing out loud or clapping.
Today was like an emotional roller coaster:
I’m annoyed with Elisabeth: being totally defensive and irrational about The War, Bush, Iraq, and all Republican vs. Democratic candidates. On all things political I totally disagree with Elisabeth. I think she will defend any and all unethical or immoral behavior because she’s so partisan it’s not even funny. And somehow I’m always emotionally effected. It’s not as if her opinion …read more

Gail King on The View?

Obviously, The View is putting bunches of people through auditions for co-host to replace Rosie. This morning they had Gail King on and so far she’s my favorite pick.
To round out the show, they still need someone  ethnic to replace Star and Lisa Ling. And I just don’t think they can operate with Joy, Elisabeth and Barbara.
I kind of like that Gail is stepping out more as someone other than Oprah’s best friend. It’s a beautiful relationship, who doesn’t envy that kind of friendship? But, surely Gail is kind of tired of being “the wind beneath Oprah’s wings.” It would …read more

Rosie Quit, Elisabeth Stays

Wow, Rosie quit after the argument I guess. I would have written about it before, but I didn’t hear about it until I had gone for my Memorial Day weekend away (I time stamped my blogs, just as they prerecorded The View. But, I’m back now.)
I guess they have prerecorded two weeks of The View, which is a little odd as I watch Rosie and Elisabeth celebrate Elisabeth’s 30th birthday.
I’m disappointed Rosie left. I don’t really know what to think about it. I checked out the Q&A on Rosie.com and she’s basically saying she felt that the producers created the blow …read more
