With the weather cooling down for autumn, many people in my neighborhood are starting to open their windows and keep them open longer throughout the day and at night. Aside from the dust (inevitable!) there is one other nuisance you don’t notice as much when the weather is so hot that windows stay shut 24/7: Barking dogs.
In my neighborhood especially, where houses are mere yards away from each other and separated only by a six-foot-tall concrete block fence, barking dogs are not only annoying, but they easily disrupt sleep or other relaxing activities like watching television or reading.
