I packed the entire household for our family vacation to the beach. I don’t mind doing this, not for my son or even my husband. It gets us out of the house faster. And really, my husband trusts me to dig up what he wants or needs. While packing, though, I noticed my husband was in dire need of new swimwear. The swimsuit he bought last year was completely faded out, the elastic had worn out on another, and the third had been eaten by a friend’s dog.

We were due to leave in mere hours, and Rick was at work, so I loaded up Truman and we hit Old Navy. The store is dangerously close to the house and the prices are so below reasonable that I knew if I picked out a pair he hated it wouldn’t hurt to tuck them in a drawer and forget about them. I did call Rick and ask if he had a preference in color – he prefers solid-colored suits. No Hawaiian flowers, nothing that’ll stand out in a crowd. He likes black, too. So I bought him this cute black swimsuit with white skulls all over it. Matches a pair of Truman’s boxer briefs!

Truman wanted in on the fun, so I let him pick out the other pair for his Daddy. Truman was immediately drawn to the American flag designs. I swear they cut up a real, nylon flag to make those things. Rick cringed, but because his darling boy so proudly presented them to him, Rick wore those screaming loud swim trunks on the beach. What a devoted Dad! I can’t wait to see what Truman picks out for Daddy for Father’s Day!

AlzheimersNotes.com With summer approaching (in the Northern Hemisphere), we begin to pull our shorts and bathing suits out of the closet and see if we can can fit into them. If they’re a bit snug (a lot snug) we begin thinking of losing a few pounds.
We’re not obese, but want to be comfortable in our clothes, can breathe without puffing up the stairs, and can run easily if we have to chase after a wandering Alzheimer’s patient.
Also, by losing some of those pounds, we may be helping the environment and cutting down on global warming!

Yes, a study has come out that obesity may contribute to global warming. My co-blogger, Liz Lewis, also writes at b5 media’s Health Bolt. You may find this blogpost interesting, Fact or Fiction: Obesity is Contributing to Global Warming?.
