Another Busy week down. This week I covered a couple topics on kid’s health. I can not stress enough how important it is to teach your children while they are young to be health conscious. It takes more than telling them that smoking is bad, it takes teaching them about eating habits and even the basics of nutrition. It takes keeping them active and not letting them become a slug on the couch. It’s our responsibility as parents to develop our children and get them on the path of good health.
Monday 3/30: How many times do you see an obese adults with an obese child? Too often!- Tuesday 3/31 I talked about how the Physical Eduation in some schools is lacking greatlyand that it’s not preventing childhood obesity. Again though it’s our responisbilty as parents to keep them fit and healthy.
- Wednesday 4/1 there no joke about the health risks you take when you slip on pants that are too tight.
- Thursday 4/2 we’re reassured that there is no disease risk if you get bit by Bed Bugs…but it’s still pretty disturbing!
- Friday 4/3 we found out that white males binge drink a bit more.
Well that’s it folks. Stay tuned tomorrow for Health Around The Blogosphere and come on back on Monday for the beginning of another greta week at Blisstree Men’s Health.

A recent study released in the Center For Disease Control Journal Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report stated that white males were among the highest binge drinkers. The study also looked at sex, age and amount consumed. What do they consider binge drinking? Five or more alcoholic drinks in one session is considered binge drinking according to this study. When most people think of binge drinking they think of people drinking until they pass out, throw up, etc. Five drinks is a day at the golf course for some people. Here are some more stats.

Teenagers and college kids aren’t the only ones at risk of binge drinking. So maybe I had a completely unique adolescence and undergrad experience, but I’m just sitting here shaking my head at some of the “news” that’s recently been released about the drinking habits of young people in their teens and twenties.
Over at iVillage, the article “Binge Drinking Rampant Among College Students: Liquor also linked to other risky behaviors, poorer school scores, CDC report finds” says,
“Our study clearly shows that it’s not just that students drink alcohol, but how much they drink that most strongly affects whether they experience other health and social problems,” said lead author Jacqueline Miller, medical officer on the CDC’s Alcohol Team, in a prepared statement. “It also underscores the importance of implementing effective strategies to prevent underage and binge drinking, such as enforcing the minimum legal drinking age and reducing alcohol marketing to youth, which can help us change social norms regarding the acceptability of underage and binge drinking.”
Well, jeez, guys, I coulda told you that — and I would have done it for free!
And then there’s this one, “Teen Binge Drinking: Common and Risky” from WebMD, which says,
