I try to savor this time of year — it seems like it goes by so fast and before we know it it’s already winter and fall was just a blip on the radar. Fall in my particular region is especially short-lived, going from intensely hot summer to really chilly within the span of weeks.

My crock pot is going to get quite a workout these next couple of weeks! I couldn’t help myself – the majority of my dinners for my family over the next fourteen days includes about eight different versions of soups, a stew, a pot roast, and chili.

While doing a bit of reading today, I found a link to Catherine Larose’s Cafe Girl Chronicles blog, by way of an excerpt at the More magazine website. More magazine is aimed at the 40+ age female. I can remember when 40 seemed sort of old to me, then Cher got there and it didn’t seem so old anymore. It’s that time of year — time to put away the grill (or at least cover it up) and bring the cooking inside. Cooler temps mean it’s not such a pain to have the oven or stove on anymore, and in some cases the extra heat is actually a help!
