Mister Skunk isn’t just a nickname. This Massachusetts artist is legally changing his name to Mister Skunk this month. Friends and family have already been calling him Skunk for years. The name refers to the artist’s habit of “skunking” for interesting trash — a hobby that affords him the opportunity to meet interesting animals that are also rummaging.
If you live in Boston, you’re lucky.

You can see Mister Skunk’s exhibit at Space 242 until July 18. If you don’t live in the beautiful city of Boston, then you’ll have to settle with my post for now. I’ve got some great images for you, though.

As may be obvious, Skunk creates his robots and toy guns from reclaimed bicycle parts and trash. The metal sculptures are meant to blur the line between art and toys. In the Space 242 exhibit article, Skunk says, “I want people to give up the ridiculous notion that playing is something only kids should do.”

Now, let’s meet some of Skunk’s toys.

The last one is “Hathor” — Skunk’s favorite of the bunch he’s created so far, though she might be a little dangerous to play with.

What you would guess is Skunk’s trade by day?
