All week I’ve avoided writing about this topic but it seems to be a hot one and something others are chatting about and I thought I’d ask ya’ll what you think. Bristol Palin, the daughter of Sarah Palin (who ran in the last election) was pregnant through the whole campaign which caused tons of controversy. I have a couple of teens, so to me, the most interesting thing about Sarah Palin at this point is the situation with her teenage daughter, Bristol Palin, and her ex-fiance-baby-daddy, Levi Johnston.
I do not mean this in a tabloid-y gossipy way. I think that these two kids are in a situation that unfortunately happens to teens all over the world, but in their case, it is playing out in the media to a certain point. Now that the shotgun has been lowered, it seems the possibility of the wedding between Bristol Palin and the father of her child, Levi Johnston, is off – at least for now. Levi, who says they broke up a week or two ago, says he’s not “mature enough” for marriage. Wow. What a shocker there.

Dr. Logan Levkoff, sex educator and author of Third Base Ain’t What It Used to Be, has an editorial in The Huffington Post about Sarah and Bristol Palin, choice and sex education.

It’s not working – but, let’s keep doing it and expect a different result and call it “the right thing.”

That seems to be the logic of abstinence-only education.

Isn’t that also the definition of insanity?
