Camp Weary Parent Rocks Out

For Camp Weary Parent this week, we are going to have fun with summertime TV – like Camp Rock, Trading Spaces, America’s Got Talent and Survivor. I sat down with the kids and watched a tivo-ed version of Camp Rock over the weekend and thought it was pretty cute. The girls have since watched the sing along version more times than I can count. Since they have a friend spending the evening, they are going to put on their own Campfire Jam for me.

Disney’s <i>Camp Rock</i>

Disney’s Camp Rock premiered last night. Were you plastered in front of your television with your tweens like we were? My eight-year-old daughter liked it, but she think High School Musical is better. My thirteen-year-old son said Camp Rock is better. What did your kids think?
I enjoyed the movie. The acting was good (for a Disney flick). The music was cute. And I even enjoyed the plot. Plus, there are two main themes in Camp Rock that many girl’s will run in to as they weave their way through junior high and high school.

Finally! Schools out. These last two weeks have been exhausting. We’ve had the last field trips, end-of-the-year parties, final sporting events, nagging about school work and more. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to kick back, relax and surf the internet.
Boys handle puberty differently than girls. Many people think puberty is easier for boys. After all, they don’t have periods or growing breasts. But boys have a lot of questions too. Make sure they are prepared.
