&#8220;I had no idea.&#8221;
&#8220;Well, of course not,&#8221; I shrugged. &#8220;How could you?&#8221;
&#8220;You&#8217;re doing a great job with your son,&#8221; she said immediately with maudlin approval.&#8221;

<p>The whole point of this article is how people perceive you. Do different standards apply if you are a divorced father, a father that stays home while the wife works, or a widower bringing up children on his own? </p>
