The Kayhan daily, a state-run Iranian newspaper, published an article on Saturday calling Carla Bruni-Sarkozy a “prostitute” who had “kicked up a human rights fuss,” in response to France’s First Lady’s public support of an Iranian woman who has been sentenced to death for adultery.
Iran’s foreign ministry asked that the newspaper refrain from insulting foreign dignitaries, but the paper’s message hasn’t changed: On Tuesday, it again reiterated the statement and added that Bruni “deserves to die”. More
