Over the weekend I took the kids up to the Town Carnival and they seemed to really enjoy it. Friday we were asked by our neighbor if we’d like to go up, we did end up going up and the kids rode all types of rides. First up was the big old pirate ship, where I learned that BalletGirl still has a few of the mirrors and heights.

IMG: Elizabeth Ferree

For those that don’t know, at Halloween we took her through one of those haunted houses that had all those mirrors and we couldn’t find our way out due to her screaming. I completely forgot about this until I heard her tiny voice say, “Sissy, I’m scared.” Her sister had went ahead of her and was already in the ball pit. She did go back to retrieve her but then had to convince her to walk the plank.

As we walked through the carnival we stopped to watch a lady get bucked from one of those rodeo bulls (automatic ones), listened to ACDC (yes they were there) and then hit up the rest of children’s rides. Momma rode the carosel with Little A and the girls as SoccerBoy watched our stuff, not to worry though he rode some boat-like thing that twisted and twirled in the air and followed up by all of them shooting down the slide. All in all they loved the rides, but missed the games.

So, what does this mean? It means mom took them today, just me and the kids. No friends that way we could take our time and just enjoy it, I’m one of those that like to walk first and discover after so I don’t miss anything. They each did one game and BalletGirl won a fish, unfortuneatly by the time we got it home two hours later it had died. We only had it for about three hours. But she had a blast tossing those balls in the ball. Somehow, even though we all wore sunblock I ended up with a very read arm, neck and chest…but they came home without a burn on them.

I think their favorite part of the carnival was the farmer’s market that was there. BalletGirl insisted on using her own money to buy a batch of strawberries and I bought a thing of cherries. They insist we need to hit the market next week since the Farmer’s Market will be down the road.

What did you do this weekend?
