Choosing Travel for Special Occasions

Do you plan a special trip, whether an exotic vacation or a weekend getaway, for those special occasions in your life? A 25th anniversary cruise, a romantic weekend for a proposal, or a girls getaway for a 30th birthday?
If you do, you’re not alone, as a recent survey commissioned by Disney just revealed.
What do people do to make a vacation extra special? Upgraded and special experiences topped the survey list:
- Enjoy a special meal (59 percent)
- Stay in nicer accommodations (35 percent)
- Group activities (35 percent)
- Buy souvenirs (34 percent)
- Special tours (27 percent)
- Private rooms at restaurants (23 percent)
I know I have taken special trips for occasions, including anniversaries, birthdays, reunions. And for those trips my habits correspond to the survey results – a special meal, maybe an upgrade to a suite, or some other special activity for our group.
Do you take vacations for a celebration? Do you make it extra special in one of these ways?

Australia Day

Here in Australia we celebrated Australia Day today. There is usually a public holiday for the event with lots of barbeques, celebrations of every kind and fireworks. This year the public holiday will be on Monday. Tonight my daughter and I headed down to North Beach and watched both the fireworks in Fremantle and then Hillarys Boat Harbour from our vantage point on the coast.
Fireworks always provoke memories. So, today, write about fireworks. If the thought brings some childhood memory to mind involve all your senses to bring the memory alive. Have fun with this journal writing prompt.
