I am a strong believer in equality of the sexes and I support the efforts that have been made by women over the centuries to change the idea that women are helpless. I like to be independent and strong and stand up for women’s rights so no woman ever has to feel like a servant. The idea of “traditional housewife” roles that involve cooking, cleaning, taking care of babies, and keeping up the house all anger me when I think that for many years it was accepted that women should do all of these things.
That being said, sometimes your man …read more

Not only has the recession been putting a strain on personal financial challenges, it has also been adding new stresses to relationships. Long distance relationships, newlyweds, and casual dating have all been hit hard by the country’s economic downward spiral over the last couple years. The good news is that we are all being affected fairly equally, but the bad news is that it might be awhile before the situation turns around.
If you have been feeling this recent economic relationship strain, don’t worry because you are not alone. I have been hearing about new and challenging issues from friends and …read more

The two extremely talented actors portray a tense husband and wife who address the challenges that come when they find that their life decisions have traveled in a direction that they never really intended them to.
I didn’t really know what to expect when I started this movie, but I have to say that I was extremely impressed. The movie uses the art of conversation to expose insecurities and confusion …read more

Here’s some inspiration for us today. A quote by one of my favorite poets, Emily Dickinson:
“To undertake is to achieve.”
What this means to me as a diabetic is that simply making the decision to be healthy and take care of ourselves puts us ahead of the game. While diabetes may be a daunting thing when we first hear it or when we are first diagnosed, we can live well. We can live a positive life.

Hi Guys,
I’m Cherie, your new Diabetes notes blogger. I’ve had Type 1 Diabetes for about 20 years and am a strong advocate for great care and research. I can’t wait to share news and updates with you, and hope to get your feedback on what you’d like going forward in this blog.
To give you some of my background, I thought I’d tell you about my diagnosis. When I was in my early 20s I felt lousy. I went to the doctor and he rudely told me that I was a young girl and there was nothing wrong with me. I insisted …read more
