Sometimes homes slip right under my radar. Sometimes they simply are a little older so I just missed them while I was doing other, non-home related things in my life.

In any case I recently came across a really nice treehouse; maybe one of the bigger (non-fantasy) tree homes I’ve seen. Built by Peter Lewis, there is an accompanying blog; Treehouse Chronicles and book Treehouse Chronicles: One Man’s Dream of Life Aloft.

This treehouse was a massive undertaking as you can see:

The above is the completed home. Lewis intended this treehouse to be his office — I’m unclear if that’s what it’s actually used for. The blog is a little scattered but still a great read for treehouse fans. There are slide shows to watch with photos of the building process; scary posts about the dangers of autumn and winter winds, and more.

Check out this beautiful winter shot:

And an interior view (LOVE the chess table). I don’t even play.

This treehouse even has some sort of drawbridge. This house looks impossible to build so to find out the detail behind the process you can pick up the book. It also would make a great holiday gift for an offbeat treehouse fan. Learn more about this home at Treehouse Chronicles.

What do you think? Would this make a great new office? I say possibly, but not in those crazy winds. Yikes.
