Indian Eagle Adopts Baby Chicks

There have been a lot of inter-species fostering stories in the news lately, and this one is definitely one of the more bizarre ones!
An eagle in Calicut, India, has adopted some baby chickens, which would normally be dinner to the bird of prey!
As the video describes, the eagle had been found injured and was taken home by a local vendor. To the vendor’s surprise, the eagle decided to take on a job of its own, becoming a foster parent to some eggs belonging to the man’s chickens.
When the eggs eventually hatched the eagle took over mothering duties.

It may seen strange when I say there are 13 birds I connect with my Mother, or which bring back memories related to her, either during her Alzheimer’s days or before. It may seem I’m “going to the birds” this week, since I wrote the post on National Bird Day. But when I began writing about Mother’s memories of birds or of her in connection with those on our farm (particularly the ducklings), I realized there were humorous ones and nostalgic ones that our family might enjoy, too.
