The first two properties to offer the service are the brand new African-themed Lopesan Baobab Resort (Melonaras, Gran Canaria) and the Blue Lagoon Resort (Kos, Greece). First Choice expects to roll out the program at a number of their other resorts as well.

First Choice, UK-based family travel experts, have incorporated FREE children’s “clubs” into two Premier Hotels. The Clubs will launch later this fall, and are, in essence, childcare. It’s hoped that this service will provide a quality experience for the small fry, giving parents a little personal break when they need it.

The first two properties to offer the service are the brand new African-themed Lopesan Baobab Resort (Melonaras, Gran Canaria) and the Blue Lagoon Resort (Kos, Greece). First Choice expects to roll out the program at a number of their other resorts as well.

Here’s how the program will work:

The Clubs will be split into different age groups, Twinkle Stars for ages 1-3, Little Stars for ages 3-5, and Super Stars for ages 6-8. The club sessions will be run by UK-certified individuals, and offered FREE to guests. Twinkle Stars will primarily be babysitting, while the Little Stars and Super Stars will offer age appropriate activities to keep young hands (and minds) active and engaged.

Parents, what do you think? Would you take advantage of these kids clubs? Is this a resort amenity that would make a difference in your booking choice?

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit seeking to strike down a new law that bans any unmarried person who lives with a partner from serving as an adoptive or foster parent in the state of Arkansas.

You know – I understand that we have SO many kids who need good homes. There are many kids who are left abandoned and unwanted. I just don’t get why – if an adult has a job and can provide all the basic human needs for a child, why would anyone be denied the right to raise a child? To care for a child who may otherwise have no one?

Now there are times when the ACLU steps in and stirs the pot on issues that I just find to be a bit asinine! For instance, don’t tell me if I run a business that caters to the public that I can’t say “Merry Christmas” if I want to. If my customers don’t like it, let them take note and not return to my establishment in the future.

If I my kids want to bow their heads and pray at school, they should be entitled to do so.

To me there is a big difference between living and thriving day-to-day and simply acting on my rights as a human being living in a free country.

What do you think? Should anyone be denied the right to adopt of foster a child just because they may not be married or even worse yet, dare I say, Gay?

As I read the book to my little ones, this morning, it made me think of the role of a parent and discipline. Every mom has different ways of disciplining their children.

Every person surely remembers the great story by P.D. Eastman, about the bird who hatches and goes in search of his mother. He encounters many inanimate objects in his quest, whom he poses the question, “Are You My Mother?” to. As I read the book to my little ones, this morning, it made me think of the role of a parent and discipline. Every mom has different ways of disciplining their children. Some are against spanking, some are not. Some find time out the only acceptable form of corrective action, some have many forms. Some parents are the only ones who discipline their kids and some think that it takes a village.

I’m interested to know what the general consensus is on discipline. I’ve included a few polls on all of my blogs, in search of answers to a few questions. Please take the time to answer each poll question honestly. You will remain anonymous, so there is no pressure to give anything other than a completely honest answer. Thank you for your participation, in advance.

Children who had been placed in child care during early childhood were more likely to exhibit aggression and disobedience regardless of the quality of the center-based care they received.
I’ve always been a believer that at least one parent should be able to stay at home with children until they begin kindergarten. I know this isn’t always possible, but studies are showing more and more that it’s in the best interest of the children and their wellbeing.
