We’re making a series of runners for my grandmother’s church, using velvet and hand-woven bands on the edges.   I’m sewing the fabric part and assembling everything and Noreen is weaving the bands to finish the edges.

I think it took me close to ten tries to get a runner I was happy with!  The velvet puckered, or the lining didn’t hang right… any number of things just weren’t working.  I simply wasn’t willing to put my name on a project that wasn’t right – it’s not professional.

I finally gave in and hand-sewed the entire runner – one down, several more to go!
