Fall is apple season in the northern part of the United States and we’ll be talking about the many health benefits and ways to prepare apples in the next couple of months. To begin, here’s a recipe for one of my favorite fall treats, Spiced Apple Cider (courtesy of the Ohio Fruit Grower’s Association):
Hot Spiced Cider
1 gallon cider
12 cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
1/2 lemon sliced
1 TBSP honey
Cinnamon sticks for garnish
Mix ingredients together in pan. Simmer 10 minutes to 1 hour. Strain before drinking. This can be kept in refrigerator and warmed in microwave as needed. Garnish with whole cinnamon sticks.
