Alternatives to toxic cleaners

In Green Cleaners Aren’t Worth That Much, I noted that I’d be back with some safer, greener options to conventional, toxic, store-bought cleaners.
Basically, you’ve got three eco-friendly options:
Make your own natural, non-toxic cleaners.
Buy natural, non-toxic cleaners.
Don’t clean.
I know, don’t clean really isn’t a great option; just making sure you’re awake.
If you’re going to buy green cleaners, one, expect to pay more than you’d pay for conventional toxic cleaners (in most cases), and two, don’t be swayed by greenwashing companies if your goal is a better green lifestyle. For example, Clorox Greenworks is in truth, a safe non-toxic cleaner, BUT there …read more

I’ve tried a lot of eco-friendly laundry soap, but like most people, I eventually picked a favorite and settled down with it. For over a year I’ve been using Biokleen Citrus Laundry Powder or the Biokleen Free & Clear Laundry Powder. I like both, it just depends on what my store has in stock.

Chameleons have always fascinated me. Though not all species are able to change colors, the one in the video below can change rapidly from blues and pinks to reds and browns.
The specialized cells, called chromatophores, that allow the chameleon’s skin color to change lie in layers under a transparent outer skin. The Wikipedia article about the color change goes into much more detail about what happens from there, but in the end, it’s just cool!

Remember yesterday when I said I liked two cool homes from Cheryl Heinrichs Architecture yet, only showed the Twisted House? Or maybe you remember my straw bale promise. Well…
The Tranquility House is a great straw bale home designed by Cheryl Heinrichs Architecture. I really like this house. Although to be honest it had to grow on me. I’d look at it. Consider it; go back, look, and finally, I realized I liked it. It was a subtle growth.
This is a great shot of an unfinished straw bale walls if you haven’t seen them in process (especially this large) before. Most …read more
Soccer Ball House

My son loves this house I found. The Barier, or soccer ball shaped houses are built by a Japanese company and some are big enough to live in. Although, some are just big enough for a shower.
I like the idea of turning it into a camper.
Inner shiny wood visual. It would make a quirky nice office; but people would be coming up and knocking all the time.
This is a view of two together to make a double level. The following drawing shows how this would work. Well, actually I guess it would be a triple level.
Flashy light and bright upper …read more
