Yes. This is a photo of me in my favorite underwear.
Yes. They are Hanes Men’s Briefs and they are Mine. My husband enjoys boxer briefs.
I discovered accidentally, about 10 years ago, that men feel entitled to wear comfortable underwear that covers their entire ass. The whole thing.
Can you believe it? They feel entitled to comfortable underwear that covers their whole ass. Both cheeks entirely. They don’t feel they should shrink their ass – they feel the makers of underwear should provide enough fabric to serve its function. I’m just saying – that’s a different relationship than women have with our skivvies.

Think about it, do you ever hear men complain about how their underwear is riding up or visible through their clothes? Do you hear them chatter on about the disappearance of the seam at their crotch in their gym clothes? Or do they have to go without drawers to wear khaki slacks? No. Never. Maybe there is a metrosexual or homosexual out there who is chattering incessantly about his visible panty line, but I have yet to meet him.

Once I made this discovery a decade ago I became oddly entitled. Yes, entitled. Entitled to have underwear that doesn’t ride up my ass or give me a wedgie. I feel my best when I have no need to find a wall to sidle up against to femininely and discreetly tug the panties out of my crack.

My britches should serve their function and I expect a lot from my underwear. I won’t go into great detail, but my underwear should be wide enough at the crotch to compensate for sanitary products, and soak up the tiniest bit of pee that has leaked out when I sneeze since I gave birth to the boy.

My underwear should serve my body. My body should not have to shrink or be sucked in to fit in my underwear.

I have yet to meet a women’s pair of panties that serve any of my required functions.

I jumped out of my chair and ran to get my husband when Sarah Jessica Parker showed up on Sex and the City in her boyfriend’s tighty-whities.

I told you! I’m totally hot! Sarah Jessica Parker somehow found out my tighty-whitie secret!

Yes, I wore them when I was single. No, my husband doesn’t consider it a turn off.

After enduring hysterical laughter and a good humored ridicule – all from my friends, still enslaved by their quest for invisible panty lines and male attention - I decided to give women’s panties another run. Sometimes they make great strides in products when I’m not looking.

I bought this kind and that kind. The boy shorts, the briefs, the thongs, the seamless crotch, the granny panties, the kind made out of lace, cotton, the new kind that’s all one silky piece without any stitching anywhere as if by magic, the suck-it-in kind, the girdle kind.

UGH!

The fact remains, when I want to be really, really comfortable - really entitled to feel like myself – I pull out my good old fashioned men’s Hanes Briefs.

You should try it – your butt will thank you.
