We just moved in to our new house which explains my absence for 3 days. For our move, my AWESOME mother-in-law sent us a care package. My share of the package is a new cookbook called 400 SLOW COOKER & ONE-POT RECIPES by Catherine Atkinson and Jenni Fleetwood. Whoa!
I love cookbooks as much as I love shoes. And like I shared with everyone last May, crock-pot happens to be one of my top 10 kitchen gadgets.
The cookbook is a compilation of 400 recipes for slow-cooked casseroles, terrines, soups, hot-pots, roasts, drinks and desserts. I’ve done roasts, casseroles, soups, …read more

I have a ton of cookbooks, but there’s one that stands out as my favorite. It’s a local cookbook that was made by a local organization. Why is this cookbook so special that it even beats out big name cookbooks? It has recipes in it from my grandmother in it. Recipes that bring back wonderful childhood memories of visiting my grandparents house to eat chocolate cake with caramel icing, homemade doughnuts, and onion sandwiches.
The cookbook is a heritage cookbook, so it has tons of recipes from our area, and bits of local heritage included. Out of all my cookbooks this …read more

It’s 9pm here – and I’m waiting for dinner.
See, the thing is that I am usually the cook here. But tonight, Paul decided he would cook. Earlier today he brought home two cookbooks by Ramsay and had to make three trips to different grocery stores before he found all the necessary ingredients for his three course masterpiece.
Cooking for me is about function. I don’t particularly like it…but I do it because we’re trying to save money and have …read more
