Today I’ve got three of these houses. I don’t know anything about them except they rock (sorry). Starting with…

I suppose we can call this the tractor house. I’ve been all obsessed with finding out more about it for over a year. Since I’m having language issue with m3mary.com, there’s no hope. However, this is an excellent offbeat home structure, wouldn’t you say?
I’ve been calling this next house the charming little shack for as long as I’ve known about it.

I’ve tried to find out more, but it appears to be some random shack listed as part of a conversation about Tiny Houses – A Natural Consequence of Overpriced Housing at Marin Real Estate Bubble. Still, I adore this little place. It’s sweet and quirky, albeit tiny.

Last up a total shot of randomness.

Here’s all the poster had to say, “We don’t live here! This is just a cool house.” The site in question doesn’t even appear to go to a main page, so I’m stumped. That said, they’re not wrong – this is a very cool house. Strange roof for sure.

Houses that no one seems to know about

It’s a nice little Lego shipping cabin! It’s so bizarre that the design concept is in Lego. Although, not being an architect myself, maybe this is a popular software, or concept idea? I wouldn’t know for sure I suppose. In any case, I was enthralled by the little modern Lego designs. I especially like the Lego Flw Container House – which you can see if you click here and scroll all the way down.

Ah, bliss. See another shot of this cabin.

Maybe this cabin isn’t your deal. You should still visit the The Mid-Century Modernist. This site rocks, which is reason enough to visit, but if you like, I can give you some specific reasons.

1. This shirt – you have to see this great design minded shirt the blogger has. I am very terribly shirt jealous.
2. This McDonald’s in London – I hate McDonald’s no matter how you dress it up. That aside, this post shows that American is sadly lacking in aesthetics where fast food is concerned.
3. This Finn Juhl Home in Denmark – I was really drawn into this post, even though the house is not my style at all, I sort of wish it was.

There; three extra good reasons to visit the The Mid-Century Modernist. Have fun!

The post about beauty, cool shirts, McDonald’s and more

Of course, as always, I do play favorites. I like the Polygon Housing design. A little stark for my normal taste, but I love the curve upwards and if built the light would be great with windows such as these.

Also, I’m pretty much mesmerized with the Cloud House. Angelidakis’ site notes that the Cloud House shape, “Was found on the internet, in Rafael Rozendaal’s www.whywashesad.com but the idea comes from growing up in the Greek summer landscape of semi abandoned and unfinished haphazardly constructed concrete domino frames.” You have to visit that whywashesad site by the way – really odd, and strangely addicting.

Life In A Mass of Shapes – Designs of Andreas Angelidakis

So of course I get all obsessive (this is a slick home) and proceed to surf through tons and tons of this guy’s flickr pages – he has a lot. Why, well, I’ll get to that in a minute. In any case, I spent far too long surfing through his pictures; which are all so great. Real slices of life – not stodgy photos at all. I like reality and his photos are exactly that.

Here’s a couple more of this amazing house:

How great is this house? It’s in Michigan, which is odd because it reminds me of a house I saw in Minnesota, on one of my road trips which isn’t far off.

The fellow I mentioned above (the one with all the cool flickr pages) shot it as part of his Hometown Invasion Tour – which is pretty neat in itself. This guy, Justin (aka Bugsy) has a website called The Hometown Invasion; I think Justin sums it up better, and faster, then I would so here you go; from his homepage:

“From Sep 8, 2006 to Sep 17, 2007 my friend Rice (the first squirrel to go to all 50 states) and I (Bugsy) have traveled 29,403 miles as we made our way to all 50 states in the nation staying in over 100 U.S. households. These are the photos and stories that made an incredible year.”

Neat… I want to go on a road trip like this! Justin blogs about his adventures too. ONLY visit the blog if you have lots and lots of free time. I stayed a long time. It was really interesting. According to his blog he’s either on the road again or considering it; it was sort of hard to tell. Still, it’s a fun site, and a great read with amazing photos. Very much worth a look.
