This is such a fantastic and basic idea that it falls into the category of “how did someone not think of this sooner?”

As most people know, dogs keep cool with a combination of sweat pads in their paws and panting, so keeping comfortably cool on a hot summer day can be a challenge if they’re not able to run through a sprinkler or jump into some water too.

COOL Empowering Food Shoppers

The more information we gain about our food, the more likely we’re able to make healthy choices. In the US, new regulations under COOL (country of origin labeling) became effective on March 16, 2009.
The new rule means that muscle cuts and ground beef, lamb, chicken, goat and pork food packages must carry a country of origin label.
COOL also now applies to wild and farm-raised fish and shellfish, as well as fresh and frozen veggies and fruits. In addition, the rule covers macadamia nuts, pecans, ginseng and peanuts.
Processed foods are exempt from COOL, and restaurants aren’t required to follow the rule. …read more

Healthy Eating in the Silicon Valley

If you love to read a good chick-lit novel, I highly recommend Calm, Cool, and Adjusted by Kristin Billerbeck. It’s the third installment in her Spa Girls trilogy, but you can jump right in and get caught up.
The main character, Poppy Clayton, is a bit obsessive about her health. She’s a chiropractor, partial to frothy-green health drinks, and is training every day for a triatholon. Running helps keep her “desperation scale” in check, as we all know how endorphins balance out our female hormonal weirdness.
