Truth Life – Dating Someone Older

I was watching an episode of MTV’s True Life on television this morning. The episode dealt with dating someone who is older and it focused on two couples. The first couple consists of a young girl, Amber, who is involved with an older man named Bobby. He is 47 and she is 26. The second couple is Lisa, 42, and Marcus, 25.
The problems that show up in these relationships deal with the older person saying, this is going to be the way things are going to be and if you can’t fit within this picture, then the realtionship will not work.

How To Act With A Younger Man

I love MORE magazine and I read it regularly. It’s a magazine for women who are 40+, but it’s not an “old lady” publication. These gals are chic, well-traveled, well-read, and apparently have pretty good jobs, because the clothes are a bit on the pricey side.
There’s an article at More.com that tells you, “How Not To Act Old With a Younger Man.”  It was written by humorist Pamela Redmond Satran, author of the book, “How Not To Act Old.”  My man is older than me (by about 10 months), but I figure acting a bit younger can’t hurt, right?

Cougars and Contributing Factors

I was thinking about the idea of Cougars. I have a friend who dated a younger man, my mom dated younger through much of my childhood, and it’s sort of an “in thing” these days, so I’m curious about it. Actually I have a little more experience than that – I was married to a younger man at one point, although as we’ve aged, the age difference seems pretty small now.
I asked a friend if certain factors might balance the years out a bit more.
For example, if a man is in his mid to late 20s, but he’s already been …read more

Cougars On the Prowl This Fall on ABC

This Fall, Courtney Cox will be bringing the subject of Cougars to the small screen. ABC’s Cougar Town, premieres September 23, 2009, at 9:30/8:30 central. Cox both produces and stars in this comedy about a divorced mother in her 40s. Cougars, in case you were somehow not yet aware, are older women who date younger men.
In a small Florida town, the center of high society is the Cougars high school football team… which is wildly appropriate since this town is the natural habitat for over-tanned, under-dressed divorcées prowling for younger men. Jules desperately doesn’t want to be one of them, …read more

Cougars Need Men, Not Boys

Cougars Need Men, Not Boys

A friend of mine is a bit of a Cougar. She is attracted to and attracts younger men. She doesn’t plan it that way, it just sort of works out that way. They pursue her and she’s single and figures, “Well, why not?” It probably doesn’t help that I encourage her. I think she’s young and fun and also of the “Well, why not,” point of view.

Here’s the problem, they don’t follow through. They talk a good game, she enjoys the time that she spends with them, but they are flakes. I don’t think that every guy under the age …read more

Cougars – Okay or Offensive?

Maria Bello, 41, recently announced her engagement to Bryn Mooser, 28. The first mention I found of the engagement came under the heading, “Maria Bello Joins the Cougar Club – AOL News.” Hhmm, interesting, but I always find Maria Bello interesting. She’s smart, beautiful, talented, and chooses unique film roles. The fact that she’s now considered a Cougar, also interesting. Cougars, in case you are not familiar with the term, are women of a certain age, who prefer to date younger men. Women have been doing this since the beginning of time, …read more
