Rain, rain go away, come again another day!
Actually, no – we need the rain… but it can add another layer of challenge for busy, creative kids who really need something to do.
It’s absolutely pouring buckets of rain outside – definitely not the day for outdoor crafting fun with the kids!
This might be a good day to get out a couple of cheap, plastic table cloths – lay them on the floor and let the kids have fun with washable paint!
How about making full-body portraits? Let the kids trace themselves (with a little help…) and then spend hours painting in the …read more

With both Canada Day and the 4th of July just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to post a patriotic craft for the kids to have fun with.
You can easily change the color of the paper to fit your your country. It can even be made with heavy-duty interfacing, fused to fabric for a sturdier pinwheel.
What about covering the handle with ribbons and attaching streamers to the end? There are all sorts of fun things that can be done with pinwheels – and they’re easy to make too!

I recently stumbled across “The Curiosity Shoppe” and was immediately smitten!
I love online shops with unique craft supplies, and this one certainly qualifies
Their “craft room” has all sorts of nifty little goodies to keep your kids (and you!) occupied this summer.
How about a vintage flower loom? Make a stitchable key ring? Do you know your knots?
New projects for summer can keep your kids interested in more than just tv or video games – and they can also be a fun reward too.

Paper Scarecrow
This should keep the kids occupied for hours and a great activity for pre-schoolers. Provide them with safety scissors, a pot of glue and some construction paper and they should be able to provide you with plenty of fall decorations for your fridge. Who doesn’t love scarecrows?
The templates are all available at the link below. To make the project easier, you could simply print out one template of the scarecrow body and then let the kids color in his features and clothing.
