What Are We Teaching Daughters About Dress?

With the lax dress styles of today, I often wonder what we’re teaching our daughters about dress? Dress in the workplace? Dress at church? Dress simply to make a positive appearance?
In addition, what are we teaching them about themselves? To make a statement by dressing sloppily with holes in the knees and butt, midrift showing, and deep cleavage?
What are we teaching them about modesty, professionalism, and , yes, conforming to the dress code where they work?
It appears to me that women object more than men to having dress codes and complain, “That isn’t me. They’re squashing my personality.”

Adolescence: Some Days It’s Just No Fun

My youngest recently turned 11. Up to this point, she has been the easiest of my kids. Easy-going, even-tempered, open-minded, up for anything. Up to this point.
These days she’s grumpy. Mean. Closed off to everything. Right now we are in the midst of a sleepover with my niece, the lovely Ashlee, and Sarah is pouting in her room.

The Great Gender Debate
Which is harder to raise, boys or girls? If you ask a person who has both, you might get a list of why each sex has its own complications and positive aspects. In my opinion, the boys are harder on my energy level. The girls, however, are more emotional and dramatic, which grates on my nerves more than any boyish habit. Mothers and fathers of teenagers, may offer a completely different viewpoint, since they have to factor in raging hormones and the like.
