I went to a new bookclub meeting last night and some ladies were talking about still holding out for Hillary being the next President. (Interestingly, one of them described herself as a Republican and the other said she and her husband were “very conservative.”)
“Something could happen,” they said.
So I started thinking, “what could happen between now and the Democratic National Convention that would make Hillary the winner?”

Last night Barack Obama garnered enough delegates to become the Democratic Nominee.

Barack Obama is first ever black Democratic Party Nominee for President of the United States in American history.

Hillary did not officially conceed. She said she wasn’t making any decisons. She made a request that her supporters email her in a controversial speech.

It was controversial because many say it showed little grace by not allowing Barack Obama to have his rightful moment to shine.

I noticed he was pretty shiny and didn’t feel he needed her permission or concession to have his moment. It was a good moment.

I was elected to be a Texas State Delegate for the Democratic Party on Saturday. First I was a precinct delegate and now I’ll represent my county at the state convention.
How cool is that?
I’ve never been able to participate quite this deeply in politics before because I was always reporting on it for newspapers. Reporters report, they don’t participate. So this year, I’ll participate and then report on what it’s like to participate – to you.
