Neuropathy is pain from the nerves – the most common types that we hear about are postherpetic neuralgia, which can happen after shingles, and diabetic neuropathy, a complication of diabetes.
Unfortunately, there aren’t really any effective treatment for neuropathic pain yet, and the chronic pain can really affect a person’s quality of life. I saw an ad once for a clinic that claims to treat neuropathic pain and their image was that of a barefoot about to step on a group of tacks, pointy ends up.
