According to the National Eating Disorders Association, 80 percent of women are unhappy with their appearance. On any given day, about 45 percent of women are dieting.
Here’s a great article by Kim Gaines Eckert, who encourages you to Love the Skin You’re In. The article offers six steps toward having a healthier body image. I meant to post this several weeks ago, but I got busy.
It’s great advice for any woman, whether shopping for swimsuits or a new fall outfit. Read it, and love who you are — even in the dressing room.

Just wanted to let you know that I’m taking the next couple of days off. I’ve been asked to SPEAK at a public library — which is extremely nerve-wracking for me. I do fine with books in a library … I’m even careful to use bookmarks. But PUBLIC SPEAKING! In front of people! (help.)
This is all because of my book, From a Daughter’s Heart to Her Mom, which is a mother/daughter gift book. You can read a review of it here. Anyway, I’ll be spending the next couple of days trying to figure out what I’m going to say, boring …read more

I had another physical therapy session this morning for my knee, and once again, I’m reminded of the importance of preventing injuries. In fact, the other day, I moved some heavy boxes around, and now my lower back is aching. This could have been prevented if I’d taken a few minutes to stretch out.
Staying flexible is one of the key ways to prevent injuries. When you get out of bed in the morning, take a few minutes and stretch your muscles. Reaching down to touch your toes, for example, can warm up your back muscles and help prevent back injury. …read more

Summer’s not over yet! I thought this gift basket looked way too much fun.
I’ve been doing some heavy-duty Flylady decluttering this summer, and I’m starting to think giving food items is the best idea. Why give people something that will become clutter in their home? Clutter sucks away my energy — as I’m sure it does yours.
I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t love a gift like this. And it looks like a great excuse to throw a party!

Have you tasted the new Tab Energy drink, bottled by Coca-Cola? It’s not bad. Not bad at all. I love the packaging — the bright pink color caught my attention. And it saved me from going off my South Beach Diet. Here’s the deal.
We attended a fabulous birthday/ tea party yesterday, held in a quaint bookstore cafe. Oh, I was really craving the chocolate. Tiny, scrumptious-looking chocolate chip cookies on a silver tray, lush chocolate iced brownies. A cool pitcher of honey-lemon tea. NOT. ON. MY. DIET.
The voices in my head had a battle. It’s OK. It’s a party. Just …read more
South Beach Diet, Day 5

I stepped on the scale this morning, as part of my daily Flylady routine, and saw the numbers drop again. I’ve lost 7 pounds now in only 5 days on the South Beach Diet. I can’t say enough great things about this program. I may even become a permanent follower of this eating plan, which means I’ll try to stay away from highly processed carbs for the rest of my life.
According to the diet’s author, Dr. Agatston, most South Beach dieters lose between 8 to 13 pounds during the strict two-week Phase I, then loss slows to about a pound …read more
