I like dinner and serveware that has a sort of solid and rustic look and feel. My all-time favorite set of plates came from Portugal – gorgeous, rich colors, shiny glaze. I have very pieces left, but that’s because I didn’t put that beautiful stuff up on a shelf. My family enjoyed it each and every day. When I shop for something new, it’s those plates, that look, that I’m trying to recreate.

I’ve always wanted a bamboo steamer for my kitchen. Sometimes I wonder if I’m on of the few Asian people who loves to cook who doesn’t have a bamboo steamer. What a shame, no? They’re greats for dumplings, and such.
