What You Need To Know About Hantavirus & The Threat In Yosemite

Yosemite National Park has issued an official warning to those who have visited the frequent family vacation spot since June. Visitors, espescially those who stayed in the “Curry Village” cabins, are at risk for hantavirus, a life-threatening disease that’s spread through rodents. So far, two people have died of hantavirus and there’s been one other confirmed case out of Yosemite. Unknown Disease Killed 56 Children In Cambodia – And Its Getting More Press Than A Known Epidemic

There is an unknown and deadly disease killing children in Cambodia. So far, at least 56 kids have died of the mysterious illness. There have been only one or two survivors. Americans’ Immunity to Mumps is Below Ideal: A government study found that only about 90% of Americans, from the young to the middle-aged, have immunity against the mumps virus. That’s at the low end of what’s needed to prevent outbreaks of the infection. (via Reuters)
