Pet Food Recall: Solid Gold Dog Food

Solid Gold brand pet food has issued a voluntary recall for their 13.2 oz Turkey, Ocean Fish, Carrot, & Sweet Potatoes Formula canned dog food.
The can has a purple label with a pull top lid and the date on bottom of the can reads 01/02/2010.
The recall is said to be due to several cases of consumers finding mold upon opening.
Turkey, Ocean Fish, Carrot & Sweet Potato cans without a pull top are not affected. The affected batch was not shipped to Arizona, California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Hawaii, or Alaska.

Rachael Ray to Launch “Nutrish” Dog Food

Uber-celebrity cook and daytime talk show host Rachael Ray has recently announced that she’s planning on launching her own “super premium dog food” called Nutrish. She’s basing it on recipes she uses for her pit bull Isaboo, and proceeds from the sales will go to Rachael’s Rescue, a charity she founded to help abused animals.
The ingredients don’t list onion so that’s a start, right?

Ever wonder how dog food is tested for taste without actually using dogs? This guys does.
Now, we’ve given our dogs grocery-store-shelf wet dog food a few times in the past as a treat and had to stop after a little while because the look of it grossed me out. I know dog food isn’t haute cuisine, but ick, it looked horrible.
