This piece has been a comedy of errors. All blame is mine, as I appear to suffer from an inability to count properly when tired. The hat is slightly off, a few stitches are done in the wrong colors, and when it came time to backstitch the coffee cup, I did it in dark blue instead of dark brown because I was too lazy to go find the brown. I did purposefully stitch the dashed line in gold braid because I thought it would be prettier than if done in brown floss. The border? The …read more
Coffee cross stitch progress

It has been a while since I posted a WIP update, so here is where I’m at with “Coffee is Magic” currently. I was going to wait until I’d finished it, but I’m not so good at waiting
I decided to use some DMC light effects ‘glow in the dark’ white in place of the ‘white fuzzy stuff’ threads the pattern called for. I’ve been following Grace’s Gryffindor Gazette, and decided to see if I could find cross stitch patterns for the Harry Potter world. Well, this has proven to be much harder than I thought it would be!
There is an illusive Harry Potter Cross Stitch Design Book written in French and seemingly published by DMC, that I’ve seen mentioned (the Ebay auctions I found were already over). One would need to either be able to comprehend French, or know someone who would be willing to translate it.

Stitching Wizard Robes!

I’ve finally made enough progress on ‘Coffee is Magic‘ to get a general “feel” for the piece. I like the ease of this piece. It’s fun, quick to stitch, and a break from keeping track of a lot of color changes or tricky new stitches. My only dilemna is whether to order the Rainbow Gallery fuzzy white thread, or substitute plain white thread and some silver blending filament.
