]]> Whenever a high-profile person dies as a result of abusing prescription drugs, it brings to light how serious the problem really is. To that end, a new study found that overall people are abusing prescription drugs less than the before. I’d like to think that it has something to do with learning from each other. If one person admits that prescription drugs are dangerous, perhaps it will help another person think twice about their use of the product as well. It will also help people become aware of what it means to become addicted.

The survey found that 2.5% of Americans (or 6.2 million) said they abused prescription drugs, which is down from 2.8% in 2007. Of course, this is a survey in which people admitted to abuse. As we know, sometimes the problem with abuse is not realizing you have a problem. In this case, the results would be higher. Still, overall good news. Let’s hope this trend continues.
