Dry cleaners in the U.S. are a pretty horrid bunch if you think about it from the planet’s point of view. Approximately 85% of all dry cleaners use a volatile organic compound (VOC) called perchloroethylene. The EPA notes that perchloroethylene is a toxin and besides being a terrible baddie for the earth it can also cause human health problems. perchloroethylene has been linked to an increased risk for cancer and major respiratory issues.
