Any parent that has a child with dyslexia can appreciate just how frustrating the disease is. While you want to sympathize with the child, sometimes it is difficult to know exactly what is going on to make them experience the difficulty with reading and comprehension. I learned so much from this book it was amazing.
Dr. Levinson, author of Smart But Feeling Dumb, describes dyslexia in terms anyone can understand. He’s been studying dyslexia since the 1990s and brings every bit of his knowledge to this book. It’s a wonderful resource for any family touched by dyslexia.

Diane’s Miso Salad

Last night, I was Facebooking and my friend, Diane put up a recipe for Miso Salad. The recipe has a few of my favorite ingredients in it – Avocados and Edamame. It sounded so good, that I asked if I could share it with you readers. She said sure and explained that she couldn’t remember where she originally found the recipe idea, but that over time she’d adapted it to the measurements and ingredients below.

learning disabilities are a detour, not a roadblock
I sat on the ground with all the other Architecture students, trying to sketch a perspective. I’d never drawn, before. It was awful. I could see the vista before me, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t translate the vision to the page. The left and right sides of my brain were completely at odds with one another. I finally broke down and sobbed. I wanted to do it. I really, really wanted to be able to do this thing that everyone else around me could do with ease. My brain just couldn’t get it to work.
