Sauteed Kielbasa W/ Onions & Green Peppers

We are fond of Kielbasa sausages. Sometimes I’d slice it in quarter chunks then steam it with water. Then we’ll just dip in mustard for lunch. Sometimes I’ll saute it with peppers & onions then pair it with buttered french bread for dinner. It’s quick and easy and tasty.
INGREDIENTS:
2 packs of kielbasa sausages
1 large green pepper
1 large onion
salt & pepper
olive oil for sauteing
Sliced the sausages in diagonals. Slice the green pepper in strips and slice the onions too. Saute the onions. Once translucent add sliced kielbasa. Cook for a bit then add the the sliced green peppers. Try …read more

Tamales From Aldi

I don’t know if you have an Aldi in your area, but if you do, you definitely need to pick up the chicken and beef tamales they currently have on special. My husband loves tamales, so he was a bit leery about trying anything other than the fresh ones we get at the Milwaukee Public Market.

The Aldi brand are microwavable, and actually come out really great. I was very surprised. If you’re thinking of having a Cinco de Mayo celebration tonight with your family, be sure to stop off and pick up a bag of …read more

Best Easter Ham Recipe

Do you have a favorite ham recipe? It seems like everyone has that one recipe that they really love that’s been handed down for generations. I used to cook a recipe that was a combination of something from my grandma and something I saw in the paper, and then last year I tried this Glazed Ham with Apricot and Mustard recipe from Martha Stewart.

It was fabulous! So that’s what I’m making this year, too.
This makes a nice crunchy coating on the outside, but you have to use the right ham. The recipe recommends using a “smoked …read more

Chicken Herb Pastry Bundles

Every cook has that one recipe that makes her shine. It’s often an easy one that she can make for company, that looks like she spent a whole day making it. For me, it’s this herbed chicken and pastry recipe from Pepperidge Farms.

I have made this for nearly every guest we’ve had in the last couple years! It turns out perfect every time and is one of those dishes that looks like you spent hours making it. It’s an impressive dish to make when having dinner guests over.
For the cheese, I use this brand of spreadable …read more

Provencal Vegetable Soup

Why do some recipes just feel like a Sunday afternoon? You know what I’m talking about, those flavorful yet simple dishes that make you feel at home and are just as yummy as can be?

Since it’s Sunday afternoon today (and we’ve just received a blanket of snow yet again!) I’m making an old favorite: Provencal Vegetable Soup from Ina Garten. I got this recipe out of her Barefoot Contessa in Paris cookout (which if you haven’t tried it yet is absolutely fabulous!)
The secret (in my opinion) is the Pistou that gets dolloped at the very end. …read more

Easy Crock Pot Pork Chops

Here’s an easy recipe that works especially well for busy days. The best part? The entire dish can be made with one pot. There’s no need to brown the pork chops, either. Simply put them in and let the crock pot do all the work.

Ingredients:
3-4 Pork Chops
1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 Can Cream of Celery Soup
3 Stalks of Celery, chopped
1 Medium Onion, chopped
1 (4 oz Can) Mushroom Slices
Nonstick Cooking Spray
1 1/4 Cups Rice
Salt and Pepper
Spray inside of slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Salt and pepper pork chops to taste, and place in bottom …read more
