dAAve is not alone with his discovery of the disdain some folks feel for our Traditions. I think the 12 and 12 spells out the nature of this disdain rather well. From page 184 – “Because A.A.’s Twelve Traditions repeatedly ask us to give up personal desires for the common good” calls just about all of us on the carpet because we are self-centered and self-serving. What Part Of Pertinent Is Mis-Understood?

dAAve left us a strong comment about his attempts to raise the Traditions as a topic at an AA meeting and being rebuffed by those who complain that the Traditions are not pertinent to their sobriety.
I feel exactly as dAAve does.

The old-timer (when I got sober dAAve, the old-timers were old!) told me “they” had handed me/us a legacy. I looked at him confused, not knowing what he meant.
The Eleventh Tradition: “Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and film.”
