How to Maintain Long Distance Friendships

I recently moved across the country, from the east coast to the west coast.  My family is on the west coast, but all of my wonderful friends who I spent all of my time with over the last three years still live in New York.  It is sad to leave all of them, but it is important enough to me that I will put forth an effort to stay close across the miles.
The main thing to remember is that if you want it to work, then make it a priority.  Set aside just a few minutes every week to keep …read more

Dating and Dodging Bullets

I was emailing with a guy at Plenty of Fish, I mentioned him last week, the one who is not divorced, but separated.  I was out of town, visiting family for the weekend and I took a break from chatting with him. While I was away, he went on a date with a lady and he emailed me Wednesday night to say that he was no longer on the market. He said that he wasn’t a “player” or something along those lines.
I appreciated the email – it’s preferable to being blown off – but today I started thinking about it again. I sometimes over …read more

Quick Tip: Check For Messages

This post is the original content of Dating Dames. If you are reading this post and it appears anyplace besides Dating Dames — please report it back to us so that we may take proper action to end the continued theft of our content.
This tip is for all patrons of online dating sites. It’s quite understandable when we get into this frenzy of creating profiles in all the free online dating sites we’d come across or putting up notices on online personals. The more places we can get our profiles accessible to other online daters, the better right? Right!
However, be …read more

Where have all the love letters gone?

Have we been too involved with the available technology that we forget how it is to be romantic?
Courtship has been practiced in different countries, in various ways, for hundreds of years now. And one of the most romantic acts in my book is the old fashioned love letter on parchment.
People nowadays rely on getting hook ups in bars, clubs or wherever. The whole concept of “pursuit” has slowly becoming extinct. They call it “the chase” now and the goal isn’t really a commitment or a serious relationship but, er, something else. Faint are the traditions or practices, which usually accompanies …read more

Dating Expert Warns Men Buying Gifts and Dinner is the Worst Way to Attract Women

America’s top expert on dating relationships advises men that, “Buying a woman gifts (or even dinner) to gain her affection is the absolute #1 recipe for failure!”
This powerful statement comes from Lance Mason, Founder of PickUp 101, during National Singles Week. As one world’s most sought after dating coaches for men, Mason flat out advises men never to buy a woman gifts (or even dinner) as a way to generate attraction, saying “It’s a loser strategy.”
Mason states that buying a woman gifts to win affection is not only absurd, it’s terrible advice, especially during National Singles Week. Mason believes that …read more

How To Get A Woman’s Phone Number And Email Address Within Three Minutes

Dr. Dating has an interesting article that discusses the “art” of getting a woman to give up her phone number or email address within three minutes.
The article does point out the obvious, that getting a phone number doesn’t always mean success – for several reasons that I find difficult to digest really, but they are solid reasons nonetheless.
The article goes on to draw on the successes of getting email addresses rather than phone numbers.  Given the technology possibilities of modern times, I’d have to say darn near everyone has access to email.  There are several positives to scoring a woman’s email …read more
