Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg announced that his company, Facebook, would build a new data center in Prineville, Oregon, where they say the cool, temperate climate will result in a more eco-friendly facility; extensive cooling systems drain tons of energy out of most data centers, but this one won’t require nearly so much. Greenpeace begs to differ – their recently-launched “So Coal Network” campaign attacks Zuckerberg for his decision to build in Oregon, where the local power supplier, PacifiCorp, uses a disproportionate amount of coal (a non-renewable power source whose emissions are also one of the biggest contributors to climate change). If you’re feeling a little sleepy at work, you probably grab a cup of coffee. For employees at a Scottsdale, Arizona, software company, employees can take a little rest in either a meditation room equipped with a couch, or in a futuristic sleep pod. Company leaders say that employees are happier and more productive since they’ve started taking 20-minute naps when they’re feeling tired.
