Researchers have discovered a new congenital heart disease. What does this have to do with diabetes? Well, it seems that the heart muscle in this case does not depend on and use glycogen for energy in crunch time thus leaving the heart void of activity. Researchers out of University of Ottawa have discovered a mutation in a gene that is considered to be a major controller in the way that energy levels are used in our bodies. This is a big discovery for endurance athletes as well as diabetics.
