If you like to let your tea sit for a few minutes before drinking it, you’re being wise because researchers think they may have found a link between drinking very hot tea and an increased risk for esophageal cancer. Tea that was too hot was defined as tea that was 70 degrees Celsius (158 degrees Fahrenheit).
The interesting study was published recently the journal BMJ . Researchers looked at a population of people who live in Northern Iran who often drink tea that is very hot and how often they were diagnosed with oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), the most common …read more

Carbohydrates. Carbs. It’s like a word from hell for the uber weight-loss buff. Hello?! Atkins diet!
If you do not know a low-carb diet didn’t start as a fad that it turned out to be. It is a desperate diet method for the clinically obese. Especially the ones that need to lose weight in a short period, maybe because so that they will qualify for a lap-band surgery or something.

I hope that it is just publicity gimmick that Matthew McConaughey is now dating Kate Hudson.
You know, they have a movie to be released next month – Fool’s Gold – their reunion team-up on screen since the movie How to lose a guy in 10 Days.
Gosh. I’m just glad he dumped that Brazilian bombshell (Camilla Alves). Still, I’m jealous as hell of Kate to be in Matt’s arms. He he.
Anyways, going back to cancer. Having it cannot be anyone’s gimmick.
Cancer changes people’s lives in more ways possible.
Like this veteran congressman (Rep. Tom Lantos) that is now retiring …read more

The most-aggressive form of Barrett’s esophagus is a precancerous condition that can lead to esophageal cancer.
The researchers also identified a cluster of four known cancer biomarkers, or genetic abnormalities, in people with Barrett’s that significantly increases their risk of developing esophageal cancer.
The risk of developing esophageal cancer in this patient population is significantly reduced by therapy with aspirin, ibuprofen and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
The researchers found that those with three or more of the cancer biomarkers upon enrollment in the study who also used aspirin or other NSAIDs had a 30 percent risk of esophageal cancer after 10 years, …read more

According to a new study published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, a particular enzyme called NOX5-S is significantly higher in cancer cells that have been exposed to acid, leading to the overproduction of hydrogen peroxide: a possible explanation for how acid reflux may lead to cancer of the esophagus.
For the first time, researchers led by senior author Weibiao Cao (a researcher at Rhode Island Hospital and an assistant professor of medicine and surgery at Brown Medical School) have outlined the signaling pathway from cells damaged by acid, to the progression of esophageal cancer.
The researchers believe that this very same …read more
