“Assault on our womanhood”?

An article in today’s edition of the U.K.’s Daily Mail shares this statistic, one I found quite shocking:
The average British woman is twice as likely to have her womb removed as her tonsils. In the UK, almost 40,000 women undergo the operation each year…
And, apparently, Camilla, Duches of Cornwall, is the newest member of the hysterectomy club. (Other well-known women who’ve had hysterectomies include Eva Peron in 1951 and Roseanne Barr in 2003.)
