Some people dread the holidays, because it means forced family fun or having to spend time with people they are related to, but feel very little in relation to.
Growing up I didn’t give much thought to the uniqueness of my family. As a teenager I sometimes found certain aspects of family life frustrating or annoying (my ex-step-mother in particular was and still is a nut), but I never felt real shame or embarrassment. I was lucky.

I went Wordy Wednesday for my Food/Nutrition post and I think I’m going to do the same here. Wordy Wednesday is the wordy bloggers answer to Wordless Wednesday.
Today, I’ve got my daughter, Sarah, eating a cupcake at my sister-in-law’s 30th birthday this past weekend. She’s got pink sparkles on her face and her hair is wet from the pool. She obviously had a blast.
Sarah is 11 and she is going into the 6th grade in about a month. She’s my youngest - she’s quite a bit younger than her next oldest sibling, Bay, who is turning 17 in a couple of weeks.

Dream Riders is an multi-award-winning documentary about Bill and Nico Roulston, a father and son who take a 4000 mile bicycle trip across the United States together. The purpose of the trip is to reconnect father and son.

Real Life vs Reality TV

I was watching the show The Bachelorette the other day with my sister, Robin. She was at her home and I was at mine, almost 6 hours apart. I’m a pretty slow texter, but it was still fun to watch the show “together” this way.
We were texting, because my sister was having trouble talking. She was attacked by a neighbor’s dog last weekend and has a large bite below her lip. It hurts when she talks.
